The Defend Democracy in Brazil Committee- NY (DDB- NY) which created the #cancelBolsonaro coalition in New York in 2019, joined Extinction Rebellion NYC today demanding Climate Justice, Trump & Bolsonaro OUT in this climate emergency, and in the kick-off to the September campaign "We want to Live”.

DDB- NY launched today in NYC the campaign of an international coalition to #defundBolsonaro called "Amazon or Bolsonaro. Which Side Are You On?", bringing the message of APIB (Articulation of Indigenous Peoples in Brazil) to New York. DDB also presented a performance by AnarkoArtLab (with the artists Adriana Varella and Amy Gillian Wilson) reflecting the burning of the Amazon Forest, worse in 2020, with a burnt log and sage while a banner with the words “Boycott Corporations” was covered in stage blood with sticky dollar bills.
On the arrival of the march to Columbus Circle in Manhattan, the group Extinction Rebellion presented four activists who climbed the well-known sculpture of the globe installed in front of the Trump Tower, tied a banner with the words “Climate Justice Now”, and spilled scenic blood on the world map on the globe. The four courageous activists were arrested on their way down, on charges of civil disobedience. Below the globe, the four performers dressed in red of the Red Brigade showed their reverence to the action.
One of the co-founders of the DDB, a partner in the organization of the action today, the artist and activist Natalia de Campos, said in her speech at the end, that in bringing the message of the APIB (Articulation of the Indigenous Peoples of Brazil) she denounced the Bolsonaro government, for its negligence in containing the covid19 pandemic in relation to indigenous peoples and traditional populations and for Bolsonaro’s alliance with the corporations that support him and support the destruction of forests and the Brazilian wetlands. She added that they pretend that the ecocide and the decimation of forest peoples is not happening. Natalia highlighted the importance of the actions of the groups like Extinction Rebellion and Refuse Fascism, in the worldwide alert to this destruction and to the fascist tendencies of Trump and Bolsonaro. She also stated that the way the public can collaborate to defund Bolsonaro is by defunding the corporations and financial investors in the current environmental destruction. She cited that Black Rock, JBS, JP Morgan Chase, Citibank, XP investments, mining and logging companies are some of the main responsible parties.

O comitê Defend Democracy in Brazil - NY (DDB-NY), que formou a coalizão #cancelBolsonaro em 2019, uniu-se ao Extinction Rebellion NYC hoje num ritual, discursos , marcha, performance e ações exigindo Justiça Climática, a saída de Trump e Bolsonaro responsáveis pela emergência climática, lançando a campanha "Queremos Viver”.
O Comitê DDB-NY lançou em Nova York a campanha da coalizão internacional para @defundBolsonaro (desmontar Bolsonaro), chamada: "De que Lado Você Está? Amazônia ou Bolsonaro?, trazendo a mensagem da APIB (Articulação dos Povos Indígenas do Brasil) para Nova York. O DDB também apresentou a performance do AnarkoArtLab ((Adriana Varella e Amy Gillian Wilson). Os artistas representaram as queimadas da Floresta Amazônica, que pioraram em 2020, com um tronco queimado e incenso de sálvia esfumaçando o parque, enquanto uma faixa com os dizeres “Boicote as corporações” era coberta com sangue cenográfico e notas de dólar grudados nela.
O grupo Extinction Rebellion apresentou, na chegada da marcha ao Columbus Circle em Manhattan, quatro alpinistas que escalaram a conhecida escultura do globo instalada na frente da torre Trump, amarrou uma faixa com os dizeres “Climate Justice Now” (Justiça climática agora), e derramou sangue cenográfico sobre o mapa do mundo no globo. Os quatro corajosos ativistas foram presos ao descer, sob a acusação de desobediência civil. Embaixo do globo, quatro performers em vermelho, da conhecida Brigada Vermelha do Extinction Rebellion, reverenciavam a ação.
Uma das co-fundadoras do DDB, a artista e ativista Natalia de Campos, disse no seu discurso logo após essa ação, que ao trazer a mensagem da APIB (Articulação dos Povos Indígenas do Brasil) denunciava o governo de Bolsonaro, pela sua negligência com a contenção da pandemia de covid-19 em relação aos povos indígenas e populações tradicionais e, inclusive por sua aliança com as corporações que o apoiam e apoiam a destruição das florestas e do pantanal brasileiro, fingem que o ecocídio e a dizimação dos povos da floresta não está acontecendo. Natalia destacou a importância das ações dos grupos Extinction Rebellion e Refuse Fascism, no alerta mundial a essa destruição e aos governos de tendência fascista de Trump e Bolsonaro. Ela ainda declarou que a maneira que o público pode colaborar para desmontar Bolsonaro (#defundBolsonaro ) é tirando o dinheiro das corporações e investidores financeiros da destruição ambiental atual. Citou Black Rock, JBS, JP Morgan Chase, Citibank, instituições financeiras como a XP, e empresas mineradoras e extrativistas da madeira como alguns dos principais responsáveis pela destruição.
